Toré: Brazilian Indigenous Tradition
In the heart of the Brazilian Northeast, peoples such as the Tuxí, Pankararu, Pankararé, Kariri-Xocó, Xukuru-Kariri, Potiguara, Geripancó and Fulni-ô keep alive an ancestral tradition that resonates deeply in their cultures: the Toré.
More than a simple dance, the Toré is a living expression of spirituality, identity and resistance.
The Toré is a sacred moment where these people connect with their ancestors and spiritual entities, in a deep communion with nature.
During the ritual, which includes a circular dance accompanied by songs to the sound of maracas, bass drums, bagpipes and whistles, the “Encantados”, spiritual beings of indigenous traditions, are invoked. Each ethnic group has its own version of the Toré, with variations in the tunes, rhythms and expressions.
For these communities, the Toré is a symbol of cultural resistance, a powerful affirmation of who they are and the legacy they carry.
It is through this sacred dance that they keep the memory of their ancestors alive and defend their rights over the land and their traditions.

Toré - Mission and Concept
The main objective of the Toré Program is to offer training in anthroposophical artistic therapy that enables a professional to work in a wide variety of institutions and organizations focused on human health and development.
The Toré program has the mission of training therapists who can act from the development of the forces of ethical individuality, as proposed by Rudolf Steiner (STEINER, 2000). For this is what the path of human evolution and humanity under the impulse of the Being of the Christ is ultimately about.
